Tim McKay
Timothy J. McKay (March 19, 1947 - July 30, 2006) was an environmentalist and executive director of the non-profit Northcoast Environmental Centerin Arcata, California. McKay was born in Stockton, California and grew up in Benicia, California. He attended Humboldt State University where he served as student body vice-president. McKay was instrumental in the 1978 expansion of Redwood National Park and the 2006 acquisition of of new wilderness areas on the North Coast. McKay worked projects for the protection of northern spotted owl, preservation of the Siskiyou Wilderness, developing the Headwaters Forest preserve, opposition to corporate logging, and the Klamath River restoration. McKay was posthumously awarded a Resolution of Honor for his lifetime of work from the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors on September 26, 2006. ==References==
